According to Variety, Columbia Pictures and Red Wagon partners Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher have purchased Holly Peterson's book "The Manny" in a preemptive six-figure sale.

Dial Press completed a $1 million, two-book deal with Peterson last week.

The novel is about a male nanny who falls for his client, a divorced mother who lives on Park Avenue.

Wick and Fisher have two big book adaptations coming up, the Sam Mendes-directed adaptation of Jarhead for Universal and the Rob Marshall-directed adaptation of Memoirs of a Geisha for Sony.
