According to Variety, Columbia Pictures will be making The Lost Symbol. This is the third film in The Da Vinci Code franchise.

Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things) will be adapting Dan Brown's book.

This new story sees Robert Langdon summoned to Washington, D.C., where he starts to decode the symbols of the Freemasons.

Tom Hanks, who was Langdon in The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, has not yet committed to return for the third film. It is expected that he will. Imagine's Brian Grazer and John Calley have signed on to produce The Lost Symbol.

Columbia has high hopes for The Lost Symbol. The book was a huge best seller last year. The Doubleday book sold over 1 million copies its first day in print last September.
