Kevin Smith is offering his condolences after his friend and reality television star Robert Bruce passed away. Known as a cast member of the AMC series Comic Book Men, Bruce was found dead on Friday inside a New Jersey storage facility. He was 62 years old.

Per NJ.com, Bruce officers responded to the City Center Plaza Professional Records Storage Facility after they'd received a call that someone reported a body in a storage unit. Reportedly, Bruce hadn't been heard from in several days, and his family had discovered he may be living in the basement storage unit that also served as his office. Concerned, a close family friend visited the facility and found Bruce's body.

It's not clear at this time how long ago Bruce died, and a cause of death hasn't yet been discovered. The death is not deemed suspicious and there are no apparent signs of foul play, though the Middlesex County Medical Examiner's Office is currently investigating. Police encourage anyone who has any information that might assist with the case to contact them immediately.

Comic Book Men originally aired on AMC from 2012-2018. Set in Kevin Smith's comic book shop, Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash, the show featured Bruce in 34 episodes. He also had credits as a producer and consultant for 82 total episodes. The AMC series certainly heightened his fame but he was already well known as a collectibles expert before appearing on the program. Smith has since reacted to the news on Twitter after he was informed of Bruce's death by his brother, John Bruce.

"Congrats I want to inform you with great sadness that Robert Bruce’s (my brother) has passed away this past week in his office in Redbank, NJ. I’m leaving to go home tomorrow to help his family after being absent for many years. Prayers in this new year for him and his family," John's tweet states.

"My condolences! I’m truly sorry to read this John," Smith responded, revealing how Robert nearly had his own show. "(Robert Bruce) was always a welcome addition to any episode of Comic Book Men, as well as a nice guy. I’ll miss Rob. (AMC shot a sizzle reel for a spin-off with Rob & his family before they got rid of all the reality shows.)

There are many others honoring Bruce after the news broke of the reality television star's death. Another tribute post from the Tell Em Steve-Dave podcast adds: "We're sad to announce the passing of our friend, Robert Bruce. He will be fondly remembered as the pop culture expert on Comic Book Men, from his tales of flea market conquests, and smacking Michael Zapcic that one time. You were truly one of a kind and will be missed."

Hopefully, as the investigation continues, the family will find some answers as to what happened with Bruce. At this time, our condolences go out to them along with everyone else close to him and feeling the pain of his passing. Rest in peace, Robert Bruce.
