Act of Valor filmmaker Scott Waugh has signed on to direct an adaptation of the online video game Hawken for Warner Bros.

The game created a lot of buzz at E3 earlier this year, with a web series and a graphic novel already slated for development. The story centers around a post-apocalyptic planet where the hunt for essential supplies turns into a battle for survival. Players control mech-based soldiers in the first-person shooter game, which has over 300,000 registered users. The game will be launched December 12 (12-12-12).

Scott Waugh's involvement was leaked during a Comic-Con panel for the web series. He will also produce alongside his Bandito Brothers partner Mike McCoy. No production schedule was released.

We also reported in May that the director has signed on to make Need for Speed for DreamWorks. It isn't known which one of these projects will get out of the gate first.
