Jermaine Fowler has taken on one of the lead roles in the anticipated comedy sequel Coming 2 America, which will reunite Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall on the big screen. No details about Fowler's character have been officially divulged at this time.

Jermaine Fowler is a comedian perhaps best known for his starring role in the sitcom Superior Donuts. Fowler will begin shooting Coming 2 America soon, with the movie already locked in for December 18 of this year, arriving as one of Christmas' biggest blockbusters and serving as a return to form for Eddie Murphy, who hasn't been seen on the big screen since 2016's Mr. Church.

Fowler plays Franco Wicks on the CBS comedy Superior Donuts. He is part of a classic ensemble that includes sitcom legends Katey Sagal (Married...With Children) and Judd Hirsch (Taxi), along with former SNL cast member David Koechner, who is perhaps best known as Champ Kind in Anchorman, but has a stellar resume that spans too many movies and TV shows to count. Also appearing on the show are Maz Jobrani, and Rell Battle.

On the movie side of things, Jermaine Fowler most recently starred opposite Zoey Deutch in Buffaloed, which made a splash at this year's Tribeca Film Festival where it made its premiere. He was also seen in the critically acclaimed comedy drama Sorry to Bother You and he's appeared in the HBO comedy hit Crashing.

Fowler has teamed with Larry Wilmore and Quinta Bronson to develop and executive produce a new CBS comedy series, and he is developing the original movie The Come Up for New Line. Coming 2 America will be his biggest role to date.

Eddie Murphy reprises his role as Prince Akeem. This time, Akeem sets out to find his long-lost son, whom he believes is living in America. His hope is to have his son take over the throne, but Akeem's daughter, who grew up in Zamunda, may have something to say about that. Arsenio Hall will reprise his role as Semmi, Akeem's trusted best friend. It's possible that Jermaine Fowler is playing Akeem's long-lost son, but that isn't stated in the initial report. It is believed that James Earl Jones will be back to play Jaffe Joffer, with Shari Headley returning as Lisa McDowell, heir to the McDowell Burger franchise.

There has been no mention as to who will come in and play Akeem's African daughter. Earlier plot leaks, which haven't been confirmed, hint towards a plot similar to the recent Shaft, where Akeem's millennial son will clash with some of the old African traditions presented to him by his father.
