Hip-hop superstar Common may still be waiting to hear about when he'll take flight as Green Lantern in Justice League of America, but in the meantime he may have the option to play a different kind of hero. According to MTV, the musician said that he has been offered the part of Roadblock in G.I. Joe.

If true, Common would be joining such stars as Ray Parks, Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, Said Taghmaoui, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Marlon Waynes, Channing Tatum, Dennis Quiad, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Arnold Vosloo, Karolina Isela Kurkov and Christopher Eccleston, in a film which details the struggle between the covert G.I. Joe team and the world-terrorizing Cobra organization, based on the 1980's cartoon and toy line.

In the cartoon, Roadblock was the G.I. Joe team's heavy weapons expert and resident cook. He also had a habit of speaking in rhyme. Roadblock is one of the most good-natured of the Joes, both in and out of combat situations and is a very capable leader when the situation calls for it.

G.I. Joe, directed by Stephen Sommers, is currently filming and is scheduled for an August 7, 2009 release.
