Very sad news has just come in as Two and a Half Men star Conchata Ferrell has passed away. Reportedly, Ferrell died peacefully while surrounded by family at a hospital in Sherman Oaks, California. Her cause of death has been attributed to complications following a cardiac arrest. She was 77 years old.

Many of us know Conchata Ferrell best as Berta, the sarcastic and hilarious housekeeper from Two and a Half Men. Throughout the entire series run, Berta essentially served as the backbone of the series as one of its most entertaining characters. She was certainly part of the reason the series maintained high viewership following the departure of original star Charlie Sheen, who was replaced with Ashton Kutcher for the final four seasons. Berta's exchanges with Alan Harper (Jon Cryer) and his son Jake (Angus T. Jones) also made for some of the funniest moments the sitcom had to offer.

Taking to Twitter, Jon Cryer has addressed Ferrell's passing in a series of tweets. "She was a beautiful human," Cryer says. "Berta's gruff exterior was an invention of the writers. Chatty's warmth and vulnerability were her real strengths. I'm crying for the woman I'll miss, and the joy she brought so many. I'm glad that I absolutely knew how fortunate I was to share a stage with her. I treasured every moment and will continue to until we meet again. I have a feeling she'll call me 'Zippy.'"

Ferrell was born in 1943 in Loudendale, West Virginia, and was raised in nearby Charleston. With a knack for performing, Ferrell was acting in theater productions by the late '60s. She began as a member of the Circle Repertory Company and would win multiple Best Actress awards for her part in the off-Broadway show The Sea Horse.

In the '70s, Ferrell began appearing on the small screen with roles in classic shows like Maude, Hot I Baltimore, Good Times, and The Rockford Files. She was also nominated for a Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series Emmy Award in 1992 for her role as attorney Susan Bloom on L.A. Law. Ferrell later received two more nominations for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the Emmys for her iconic role as Berta on Two and a Half Men. More recently, Ferrell appeared in several episodes of the Netflix series The Ranch with her Two and a Half Men co-star Ashton Kutcher.

Ferrell has also appeared on the big screen on several occasions. She had a starring role as a housekeeper in the 1979 movie Heartland alongside Rip Torn and co-starred with Lili Taylor, Annebeth Gish, and Julia Roberts in Mystic Pizza. The character actress also had memorable roles in titles like Edward Scissorhands, Erin Brockovich, Mr. Deeds, Deadly Hero, and K-PAX. Her final movie role was in the 2015 holiday horror movie Krampus.

it was reported in July that Ferrell was being treated at a long-term health care facility after suffering a major heart attack. At this time, we extend condolences to Ferrell's husband, Artie, along with her family and friends. With such an unforgettable personality, there's no doubt that Ferrell will always be remembered. Rest in peace. This news comes to us from Deadline.
