Academy“ Award-nominated director and screenwriter Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In The Name Of The Father) presents an amazing coming of age story when Fox Home Entertainment releases the Academy-nominated IN AMERICA on May 11 on DVD and VHS.

Samantha Morton (Academy“ Award-nominated Best Actress) and Djimon Hounsou (Academy“ Award-nominated Best Supporting Actor) star in this remarkable tale of hope and faith, that follows an Irish family’s journey to the United States and their experience of love, loss, coming together and starting over. IN AMERICA has been hailed as one of the best movies of the year by Newsweek, People, USA Today, New York Daily News and the Chicago Sun-Times. Richard Roeper (Ebert & Roeper) described the film as, “the best picture of 2003…a work of art that I’ll remember forever.” The DVD includes a director commentary, a “making of” featurette, an alternate ending and nine deleted scenes. Both widescreen and full screen versions of the film are offered on the same disc. The DVD is available for $27.98 U.S./$41.98 Canada.


Presented in Dolby digital 5.1, the In America DVD offers a number of bonus features, including commentary by director Jim Sheridan , In America “making of” featurette, alternate ending and nine deleted scenes. Both widescreen (1.85:1) and full screen (1.33:1) versions are offered on the same disc.


Intimately told by their 11-year-old daughter Christy (Sarah Bolger), a child wise beyond her years, In America is a coming of age story about an Irish couple (Samantha Morton, Paddy Considine) trying to find their way. To Christy and her younger sister Ariel (played by real life sister Emma Bolger), America is a place of magic where anything is possible. To their parents, it represents a place to begin anew. Carried by the girls' youthful hope and faith, the family finds the heart to live and love again. Together they find home. In America is directed by Academy Award nominated director Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In The Name Of The Father), who co-wrote the original screenplay with his filmmaker daughters Naomi and Kirsten Sheridan.
