Synopsis:

Academy Award winners Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett give wickedly entertaining, Oscar nominated performances - one as a woman consumed by her colleague's guilty secret, the other, a victim to her own dark obsessions - in this sexy, stylish thriller. Dench mesmerizes as Barbara Covett, a teacher who rules over her classroom with an iron fist, yet leads a desperate, solitary life outside it. That is, until she meets radiant new art teacher Sheba Hart (Blanchett). Although at first overjoyed with her newfound kindred spirit, when Barbara discovers that Sheba is having an affair with a teenage student, her jealously and rage spiral out of control. Also starring Bill Nighy, Notes on a Scandal "has all the right ingredients: lust, greed, envy, secrets, lies, betrayals!" (Interview).

Experience the compelling composition of one of the year's most acclaimed films Notes on a Scandal, debuting on DVD April 17, 2007 from Fox Home Entertainment. Two of the world's best actresses, six-time nominee and Oscar winner Judi Dench (Casino Royale) and three-time nominee and Oscar winner Cate Blanchett (The Aviator) deliver superb performances along with Golden Globe winner Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest) in the film The New York Observer calls "a cinematic triumph of scalding intensity." Directed by Richard Eyre (Iris), Notes on a Scandal is nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Acting nods for Dench and Blanchett as well as Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Score.

One woman's mistake is another's opportunity in this stylish, suspenseful thriller that binds two women together by the secrets that they share. The details of the "sensationally nasty" (Entertainment Weekly) story are noted in the acerbic diary of Barbara Covett (Dench), a rigid, solitary teacher at a decaying secondary school in London who's world suddenly changes when she meets the new art teacher, Sheba Hart (Blanchett). When Barbara learns of Sheba's scandalous affair with one of her young students, she threatens to divulge Sheba's indiscretion to both her husband (Nighy) and the world. In doing so however, Barbara's own secrets and dark obsessions are revealed, exposing the deceptions at core of each of the women's lives at once. The Notes on a Scandal DVD features deleted scenes, director commentary, Webisodes, multiple featurettes - including "Notes on a Scandal: The Story Of Two Obsessions" and "Notes on a Scandal: Behind The Scenes" - and much more. The DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $29.98 U.S./$43.48 Canada. Prebook is March 21, 2007.
