This summer, the ride is just beginning in the first trailer for Cop Car, arriving in theaters August 7 and on VOD formats August 14. While it's never smart to steal a cop car, it's even worse when the vehicle belongs to a corrupt cop, with a horrifying secret lying in the trunk. As you can see in the trailer below, a seemingly-innocent joy ride spirals terribly out of control.

Kevin Bacon stars in director Jonathan Watts' delightful throwback thriller Cop Car. When two good-natured but rebellious young boys (James Freedson-Jackson and Hays Wellford) stumble across an abandoned cop car hidden in a secluded glade they decide to take it for a quick joyride. Their bad decision unleashes the ire of the county sheriff (Kevin Bacon) and leads to brutal consequences.

Shea Whigham, Camryn Manheim and Kathleen Bentley round out the supporting cast of Cop Car. This upcoming thriller made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival this past January, where it was picked up shortly thereafter by Focus World.
