Couples RetreatIt was a crowded week on the DVD and BD shelves this week with four new theatrical releases debuting, but only one that swept all three home video charts. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Couples Retreat made its debut atop the DVD sales charts, rental charts and Blu-ray sales charts, for the week ending, fittingly, on February 14.
The therapeutic couples comedy starring Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau and many others, had its stiffest competition from another romantic new release, the Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams film The Time Traveler's Wife, which took second place in both the DVD sales and rental charts. Woody Harrelson's Zombieland, which swept all three charts last week, slipped to third place in DVD sales and rentals, but took second place in Blu-ray sales. Two other notable new releases bowed this week, with The Stepfather taking sixth place on the sales charts and fourth place in rentals and the Coen Brothers film A Serious Man, which couldn't quite capitalize on its Best Picture Oscar nomination, taking 14th place on both the sales and rental charts.
Couples Retreat completed the sweep with a win on the Blu-ray sales charts, with 20% of its total units sold coming in the high-def format. Zombieland finished second on the BD charts, with still a solid 27% of its total units sold that week in BD, down from 31% last week.
