After the critical and commercial success of Scream (2022), it didn’t take long for Paramount to announce a sequel. Scream 6 will follow the survivors of the 2022 film as they leave behind Woodsboro and attempt to start a fresh chapter. Franchise regular Courteney Cox will also be returning in Scream 6, reprising her role as Gale Weathers. Cox, who was one of the first actors confirmed for the film, is excited about her return and recently praised the script of Scream 6. Without revealing anything, for obvious reasons, Cox told Entertainment Tonight,

"I don't know about contracts and where things are, but I'll tell you in the script -- it's a really good one. You actually have to be killed if you talk about it, so I'm not gonna say anything."

Most of the creative team behind Scream is coming back for Scream 6, including director duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett, best known for helming the 2019 slasher comedy Ready or Not. Guy Busick (Castle Rock) and James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) are writing the screenplay.

The returning cast for Scream 6 includes Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy-Brown, and Mason Gooding. Scream 6 will also see the return of another beloved legacy character, Hayden Panettiere's Kirby Reed from Scream 4. Scream 6 will mark Panettiere’s first major film appearance in several years. Let’s hope she doesn’t suffer the same fate as fellow Ghostface survivor Dewey Riley (David Arquette), who was brutally killed off in Scream 5, but we can’t know anything for certain with the franchise. However, it would be totally in line with the franchise’s signature subversiveness to bring back Kirby Reed just to kill her again.

As for Neve Campbell’s involvement in Scream 6, there is currently no word, but she is expected to return as well. After all, it wouldn’t be a Scream movie without a Sidney Prescott vs. Ghostface showdown.

Scream 6 begins filming this summer and will hit the screens on March 31, 2023.

Courteney Cox Will Return In Shining Vale Season 2

First Look at Courteney Cox in Starz Horror-comedy Series Shining Vale

Courteney Cox headlines the Starz horror-comedy series Shining Vale, which was recently renewed for season 2. The show follows a dysfunctional family as they move into a new house with a sinister history. Cox plays Patricia "Pat" Phelps, an unfulfilled, struggling writer who believes she is haunted by a ghost.

Much of Shining Vale's season 1 dealt with Pat’s mental health issues and confounded viewers with its narrative. Are the ghosts real or just in Pat’s mind? While the finale did confirm some theories, it also left fans with some unanswered questions that’ll likely be further explored in season 2. Cox talked about Shining Vale with ET, saying,

"I was so lucky to be able to explore what I was able to in season 1, and I can only imagine it's going to be even more. But everything from addiction to mental health to marital strife to moving and writer's block. I just had so many things to play -- having teenagers, one going through puberty, one pushing mom away -- which I'm very comfortable with or going through. I just had so much. It was so multi-faceted, my character. And I can imagine it's going to be more, because at the end of last season, I was heading right into a psych ward. I can't even imagine what's gonna happen, it's limitless."

Shining Vale season 2 doesn’t have a release date, but make sure to check out the show exclusively on Starz.
