Craig Brewer has signed on to write and direct Gangster Princess of Beverly Hills for Paramount Pictures.

The project is based on an August 2012 Rolling Stone magazine article that told the true story of Lisette Lee, a wealthy young woman who portrayed herself to be an actress, model, singer, and even an heir to the Samsung fortune. In reality, she was actually a drug mule who was caught smuggling 500 pounds of marijuana in June 2010, which landed her a six-year prison sentence.

The filmmaker will write the screenplay adaptation based on Sabrina Rubin Erdley's article. No production schedule was given at this time.

Craig Brewer is also writing the screenplay for Warner Bros.' Tarzan remake, which David Yates is directing. He is also slated to direct the Fox pilot Boomerang, which stars Anthony LaPaglia and Felicity Huffman.
