The Super Bowl is known for its remarkable commercials and jaw-dropping half-time performances. This year, Creed III joins the leagues of unforgettable commercials, releasing a new trailer for the upcoming boxing epic ahead of the film’s March release.

Against the musical backdrop of The Fugees Ready or Not, the 50-second trailer builds tension for the inevitable face-off between the titular character, Adonis “Donnie” Creed and the threequel’s heel, Damian Andersen. Portrayed by Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors respectively, Creed III revolves around the reemergence of Donnie’s estranged childhood friend and boxing prodigy, Damian. Despite Donnie welcoming his old friend with open arms, Damian resurfaces after his lengthy prison sentence with ulterior motives. Scenes from the trailer show that an amicable reunion is out of the picture as Damian is fueled by vengeance and intends to “come for everything” Donnie has.

The ghosts from Donnie’s past inevitably catch up to him as Damian is relentless in taking back the life he believes was stolen from him by Donnie. The words of Bianca (Tessa Thompson) reverberate as the trailer reaches its pinnacle, “Don’t let him destroy everything you built.” Ultimately, the situation between the former friends escalates, leaving only one solution: the equally-yoked duo will have to settle the score within the ring.

Jonathan Majors Followed an Insane Regime to Bulk Up for His Roles in Creed III and Magazine Dreams

Jonathan Majors is Hollywood’s latest hot commodity as the surrounding buzz continues to swell ahead of his big movie premieres for 2023. He recently starred in Magazine Dreams as the bodybuilder Killian Maddox, which premiered at Sundance this January. However, larger audiences will get to see Majors as Kang the Conqueror when Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania premieres February 17, and then as the difficult-to-hate antagonist Damian in Creed III next month.

To fully embody his bodybuilder and boxer roles, Majors underwent heavy preparation to transform into each character. For Magazine Dreams and Creed III, the roles required the actor to seriously bulk up to achieve and maintain a chiseled physique. Following the Sundance premiere for his film, Majors spoke with Variety about the astounding caloric intake needed to develop and sustain the strong, muscular form.

“I’m 6 feet tall. I’m 202 pounds. In order to sustain that and to grow that you have to eat as much protein that you weigh. I ate 6,100 calories a day for about four months. That included the pre-work and the post-work of Creed III.”

Additionally, he went into further detail about the demanding exercise routine and dietary regimen that was necessary to keep his body in peak physical fitness. “The normal bodybuilder works out two times a day. I’m playing Killian Maddox…Playing him you don’t f*** around!” Majors expressed. “What ended up happening is I would train two hours, two times a day for the movie and a third time after wrap. Meanwhile, you eat six times a day. Lots of chicken. Lots of elk. That’s just for me. I like it.”

Audiences can catch Majors in Creed III when it hits theaters on March 3rd.
