The first episode of the Creepshow TV series has wrapped production. To celebrate the occasion, executive producer Greg Nicotero has shared the first image of the new series and it looks pretty great. The image is of the Creep from the original movie, but with a new twist, which horror fans will more than likely get a kick out of. The monster actually looks pretty close to the original 1982 version and hopefully proves that the new TV series won't be straying too far from the tone of the first movie.
Production on the new Creepshow TV series started just last week and it appears that everything is moving along pretty smoothly. When it was announced that production had begun, more information about the show was released, including the directors that are working on the different episodes. By the Silvery Waters of Lake Champlain will be by Joe Hill, House of the Head by Josh Malerman, The Companion by Joe Lansdale, The Man in the Suitcase by Christopher Buehlman , All Hallows Eve by Bruce Jones, Night of the Paw by John Esposito, and Bad Wolf Down by Rob Schrab.
The original 1982 Creepshow was written by Stephen King and directed by George A. Romero and is known for reviving the anthology aspect in the horror genre. The latest TV series is looking to continue that element by keeping the comic book aesthetic that made the first movie stand out and spawn two sequels. Greg Nicotero had this to say about his vision for the upcoming Creepshow series.

Having grown up in Pittsburgh, Creepshow lives in a special place for me. I had the good fortune to visit the set as a teenager. I was able to look behind the curtain of filmmaking, and it changed me forever. I'm honored to continue telling the stories in the comic book come to life world that fans fell in love with. This fall we will be 'opening the coffin' and unleashing upon the world our demented and ghastly stories, crafted by the best in business."
Dealing with a franchise as iconic as Creepshow is not going to be an easy to task. There's a lot to live up to, which could set horror fans up for disappointment. However, it appears that Greg Nicotero and crew are striving to make something that will stand up to the original, while blazing its own original trail. Let's all hope that Nicotero continues to share production photos in the future so that we can see where this new version is going.
The Creepshow TV series is set to be an anthology of original stories, each made the different aforementioned directors. The show will premiere on the horror streaming service Shudder sometime in 2019. We're all keeping an eye out for a solid release date, but the end of the year seems like a safe bet at this point in time, especially if the episodes are able to wrap as fast as the first. Greg Nicotero's KNB EFX Group is responsible for all of the creations of the creature and makeup effects on the show.
