The Criterion Collection is the latest to join the Blu-Ray family. According to the Criterion Collection's official website, they will start to roll out their films in 1080p high-definition starting in October. Here are the first wave of films to be announced:

The Man Who Fell to Earth
Last Emperor
El Norte
400 Blows
Gimme Shelter
The Complete Monterey Pop Festival
Contempt [2 Discs]
Walkabout
For All Mankind
Wages of Fear
Along with those new Blu-Ray editions, Last Emperor will be released in a stand-alone theatrical version in both standard and Blu-Ray and Walkabout will be a brand new edition with a new transfer and new special features.
Exact release dates for these releases haven't been announced yet, but we'll update this story when we have more information.
