Sophie Turner says she's into playing Boy George in the upcoming Culture Club biopic. It was recently announced that MGM is developing a movie based on the iconic singer's life, which has led to questions as to who would play him on the big screen. Telling George's story is going to be interesting, to put it lightly. The popstar has changed multiple times throughout his lengthy career, but he has never shied away from speaking his mind, no matter how hard it freaked people out at the time.

In a recent interview with Australian radio show Fitzy and Wippa, the popstar was asked who should play him in the upcoming Boy George biopic. George answered by saying, "there's been some really interesting suggestions" from people, but "one of the most interesting suggestions was Sophie Turner." For people who are already saying to themselves it can't happen because "she's a girl," George says, "when I was 17, I would have loved to have been her."

Word apparently spread to the young Game of Thrones actress. Sophie Turner reached out to Boy George on social media and said, "I'm SO down." She didn't go any further, but this would be a pretty unique casting idea, which would fit into the popstar's mystique perfectly. Cate Blanchett was one of six actors to play Bob Dylan in 2007 drama I'm Not There, but Turner taking on the main role in the Boy George biopic would almost be too perfect and it would go a long way in separating the biopic from the recently released Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Boy George, aka George Alan O'Dowd, is excited about the idea of his story making it into theaters. The popstar looks at it as another way to play with his image, which has been played with a lot over the years. When it comes down to it, a Boy George biopic will show another side of the man that has rarely been seen. George had this to say about it.

"In our game, there is always (so much) stuff that is written about you that is so ridiculous, that you say, 'I don't mind it... it makes me sound more interesting.' He sleeps upside down on the roof. He only lives on lentils, that kind of stuff... I think it just makes a great picture."

Sacha Gervasi is set to write and direct the Boy George biopic. Even though Sophie Turner would love to play the popstar on the big screen, nothing has been officially announced in terms of casting at the moment. However, having the Game of Thrones star on board would certainly bring some extra people into theaters. There is also no official release date set, but more news about the project should be dropping soon. You can check out Sophie Turner's Twitter response to the Boy George biopic below.
