Mixed martial artist Cung Le has signed onto the new crime drama Dragon Eyes for producer Joel Silver, according to Deadline New York.

The project is reported to be a modern-day retelling of the Akira Kurosawa movie Yojimbo. The screenplay revolves Cung Le as a mysterious man who unites two rival gangs in the heart of New Orleans, convincing both sides to start a war against a corrupt lawman.

Cung Le is a former Strike Force champion who has also appeared in Fighting, the sci-fi horror film Pandorum, and the upcoming Tekken movie, where he portrays iconic video game character Marshall Law.

Joel Silver is producing through his Dark Castle banner along with After Dark Films. No writer or director were mentioned, although the site reports that the movie will start shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana next month.
