The CW Network has handed out a pilot order for First Cut from 90210 producer Jennie Snyder.

The story centers on a young female doctor, who is eager to enter the professional world and leave her geeky past behind. When she arrives for work at her new hospital, she quickly learns that this workplace setting is all too similar to high school. Jennie Snyder wrote the pilot script and will executive produce alongside Dan Jinks.

First Cut joins the diverse group of pilots ordered by the CW last week, including the superhero drama Arrow, the Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries, and a remake of the 1980s live-action drama Beauty and the Beast.

No production schedule was given for the First Cut. If First Cut is ordered to series, it may serve as a companion show to the first-year drama Hart of Dixie, another fish-out-of-water series centering on a young doctor.
