Daisy Ridley has been the face of the Star Wars franchise as Rey Skywalker, the lead of the sequel trilogy. That means she has seen first-hand how some fans of the long-running franchise will react to things they don’t necessarily like in new entries in the space opera. Unfortunately, toxic parts of the fan base are always eager to share their opinions online, often leading to a lot of unnecessary backlash against the stars taking on prominent roles in some big franchises.

While speaking with Variety, Ridley addressed the role of females in the Star Wars universe and gave her advice to any new actresses joining the saga in the future. She commented:

“The world is a crazy place. It’s important to tune out the stuff. Not just with ‘Star Wars,’ but with everything, you try and be in the moment and enjoy what it is because life moves quickly. Amandla Stenberg [of The Acolyte] can handle herself. She’s been working for a long time. I sat next to someone at the ‘Wakanda Forever’ premiere, an executive, and they said [‘The Acolyte’] is amazing. Everyone knows how things are and how they can be. We’re all living in that, with people saying more than they need to and commenting more than they need to. It’s so individual. Find the good in it all and enjoy it.”

Two upcoming Star Wars series will feature leading females, with Amandla Stenberg headlining The Acolyte and Rosario Dawson returning to her role of Ahsoka Tano. While there will likely be certain segments of the Star Wars fan base that will have complaints about both shows when they arrive, there is a lot of buzz about the latest additions to the Disney+ Star Wars slate.

There has been much speculation about where exactly the Star Wars franchise is heading, with many of its new entries being placed within the existing timeline between The Phantom Menace and The Rise of Skywalker. With new movies being one the biggest focuses of Lucasfilm’s upcoming Star Wars projects, there are plenty of rumors about where exactly these movies will take the franchise.

While Rian Johnson was said to be creating a Star Wars trilogy and Taika Waititi also working on a Star Wars script, there is no actual confirmation of what lies beyond the current list of Disney+ TV shows. Daisy Ridley managed to get fans excited about her potential return when she posted photos of herself on Instagram at Lucasfilm’s HQ. However, while many believed at the time she could be there to discuss potential projects, she was simply there for a special lunch to celebrate the third anniversary of The Rise of Skywalker’s release.

This year is a big one for new Star Wars series, with The Acolyte, Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew, and the third season of The Mandalorian all coming soon. For fans now though, there is more interest in what comes next, and for now, that is something we have no real idea about.
