A new comedy series is in the works starring Damon Wayans Jr. alongside father Damon Wayans. Per Deadline, the untitled multi-cam sitcom is in development a CBS. The elder Wayans is also co-writing the series with Kevin Hench (Last Man Standing). Wayans, Wayans Jr., and Hench are all executive producing with CBS Studios serving as the producing studio.

While a title hasn't been divulged, some plot details have been provided for the father/son sitcom. According to the report, it follows "legendary talk radio host and happily divorced 'Poppa' (Wayans), who has to drag his grown son (Wayans Jr.), who has all his charm and none of his drive, kicking and screaming into adulthood before he turns 40." No details have yet been revealed for any other characters or actors attached.

Both Wayanses have had experience with CBS in the past. For the elder Damon, that goes back to the hit sitcom My Wife and Kids which ran for five seasons from 2001 to 2005; Damon Wayans Jr. actually made his TV acting debut on that show. More recently, the two reunited for an episode of the CBS sitcom Happy Together in 2018, though that series was canceled after one season. Wayans Jr. has also appeared on his father's comedy show The Underground on Showtime.

The elder Wayans has long been a force in comedy, going back to his sketch comedy days on Saturday Night Live and In Living Color. He is perhaps best known for his film work, which includes starring roles in movies like The Last Boy Scout and Major Payne. In more recent years, Wayans has been sticking to the small screen and had a run playing one of the leads in the TV series adaptation of Lethal Weapon. Wayans will return to film in the upcoming movie Cinnamon, his first role in a movie since the 2008 TV film Never Better.

It is not yet clear when the father/son comedy series starring Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. will start filming, or when it will make it to CBS. Stay tuned for additional announcements to be made about the series.
