The new animated horror-comedy Little Demon, from Community mastermind Dan Harmon, is arriving at FXX on August 25, 2022. The show stars Danny DeVito as the Devil and Lucy DeVito as the devil’s spawn, Chrissy the antichrist, whose first period makes Lucifer aware of her location. Meanwhile, Aubrey Plaza plays Chrissy’s mother. As if this core cast weren’t enough to entice anyone over to the dark side, the list of guest stars for the show features some huge stars, including Danny Devito’s co-star in the 1988 movie Twins, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

At the Little Demon panel that took place at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Devito shared his thoughts on sharing the screen with Schwarzenegger once again. “He’s very good in Little Demon,” stated Devito. “He’s strong, you know Arnold.”

But the list of impressive Little Demon guest stars doesn’t end there. Also appearing in the series are big-name stars like Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), June Diane Raphael (Star Trek: Lower Decks), Sam Richardson (VEEP), Shangela (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Pamela Adlon (King of the Hill), and Mel Brooks (History of the World, Part I). Speaking of Brooks at the SDCC panel, Devito commented, “Lean on your friends to be in your show… Mel Brooks is a cool guy.”

Unfortunately, one friend won't be able to lean on his former writing partner too hard, Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland. According to Harmon, a Rick and Morty crossover with the show would be possible if—and this is a big if—Disney were to purchase Warner Bros., anyway. “A few more violations of antitrust and we’re going to have the greatest Comic-Con ever,” he joked.

At the heart of the story of the series is a custody battle between Satan and Chrissy’s mother over their daughter. This mix of unhealthy family dynamics with genre comedy calls to mind Rick and Morty, the animated sci-fi comedy Harmon co-created with Justin Roiland that returns for its sixth season on Adult Swim on September 5th, 2022.

Little Demon was co-created by Seth Kirschner, Kieran Valla, and Darcy Folwer. At the panel, Folwer spoke to the inspirations for the show:

We’re all horror nerds, the three of us, so we were trying to do a spin on Rosemary’s Baby, so it started with a story about a woman with a cursed womb. Suddenly she was pregnant, she has the kid, and the kid was 13, girl, the antichrist because we found that relationship between a mother and her 13-year-old girl really lends itself well to the horror genre.

Now that’s relatable comedy!
