Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, and Jean Dujardin have signed on to star in The Monuments Men for director-star George Clooney.

We first reported on this project back in January, when it was announced that George Clooney will co-write the script with Grant Heslov. The story is based on Robert M. Edsel's novel, which follows a group of historians trying to recover a collection of priceless artwork stolen by the Nazi regime, before Adolf Hitler destroys them once and for all. John Goodman, Hugh Bonneville, and Bob Balaban also star, although no details were given for any of the characters.

George Clooney and Grant Heslov will also produce through their Smoke House production company. Production on the Sony Pictures and 20th Century Fox co-production begins March 1 in Europe.
