Daniel Radcliffe apparently wasn’t all excited during the early shoots of his breakthrough role in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Not only was the film his breakthrough role, but it was also the film that made him and his co-stars international sensations. Though since Harry Potter, the actor has starred in some really great projects, proving his versatility in acting; however, his fan following for Harry Potter Series is unmatched, leaving him showered with praise from fans. However, the actor, in a recent interview during the promotion of his upcoming film The Lost City, in which he plays the primary antagonist, said that for him, at the time, the project wasn’t as fascinating as it now seems.

When an interviewer from TooFab asked Radcliffe and his co-star Sandra Bullock about any project they were embarrassed by, Radcliffe recalled his experience filming Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. He answered:

I think, honestly when I was on Harry Potter and dressed as a schoolboy, it didn't feel like the coolest thing in the world at the time.

Radcliffe then admitted to realizing his most significant role and its remarkable impact on the entire fantasy genre and global cinema. Revealing how he looks back and realizing what a legacy he has left behind, he says:

It's been, honestly, later that I've looked back and gone, 'That was incredibly cool,' and I do feel that now, for sure.

It’s not like the experience was terrible or overwhelming for Radcliffe. His answer was a response to a question that was in reference to an element in the film The Lost City. The film features Channing Tatum as Alan, a book-cover model, who is embarrassed by the first look of his appearance on Bullock’s character, Loretta’s book. The interviewer took this moment from the film and intersected with the actors’ personal life experiences as performing artists, asking if such a moment ever arrived in their career. And it looks like it happened too early for Radcliffe.

A number of fans may be left in awe with this response from the fan-favorite actor. However, he isn’t wrong on his part. In the New Year’s Harry Potter Reunion, titled, Return to Hogwarts, it was revealed how Radcliffe was almost not approached for the role, given his parents were skeptical of having their child enter the film industry. The actor was only eleven before his audition and the film series was supposed to be shot in Los Angeles for the next seven-eight installments. Radcliffe recalled that his parents weren’t entirely in support of the call, and it could have been not allowed to audition in the first place.

At that young age, headlining such a major franchise was obviously pressure on him, as all eyes were on him, thus, leaving him conscious of his acting in his first feature film. But Radcliffe thankfully nailed the performance, escalating the trajectory of his career. The Harry Potter films remain fan-favorite, and a lot of people sign with it, as the films from the series have found fresh fame after the release of the reunion. Apart from The Lost City, Radcliffe is also set to play the lead in the upcoming biographical comedy, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, releasing at an unannounced date. Furthermore, the recent rumors, which he publicly denied, of him being considered for the role of Wolverine has also got him in the major limelight.

The Lost City, directed by Adam Nee and Aaron Nee, releases on March 25th in the United States. It currently holds a 74% rating on the review aggregator website, Rotten Tomatoes.
