Daniel Radcliffe has signed on to star in an adaptation of Tokyo Vice, based on the memoirs of journalist Jake Adelstein.

The actor will portray Adelstein, an American reporter working for the Tokyo newspaper Yomiuri Shinbun on the crime beat. The story tells how his non-stop investigation of Yakuza crime lord Tadamasa Goto came at a high personal cost, including threats against his life.

Anthony Mandler is directing from a screenplay by JT Rogers and Jake Adelstein. John Lesher and Adam Kassan are producing through their Le Gribsi Productions company. Production will begin in early 2014.

Daniel Radcliffe will next be seen in Kill Your Darlings and Horns, neither of which have a release date set at this time.
