Daniel Silva's seven book spy novel series has just been picked up by Universal Studios. According to Variety, the studio is planning on making the 2006 thriller The Messenger first.

Pierre Morel is all set to direct the adaptation. The series follows Mossad agent Gabriel Allon. He is part of a covert assassination team that aided in avenging the murdered Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics. After an assassin kills his wife and child, he retires and becomes an art restoration expert. The Messenger is the sixth book in the series.

Silva's latest novel in the series The Secret Servant was published last month by Putnam. There is no word on when the first film would be going into production.
