Our first look at Daniela Melchior in Fast X has been revealed. Making her debut in the Fast and Furious franchise in the penultimate film, Melchior's role has not yet been revealed. In a short video clip posted to Twitter, Melchior grips the wheel of an unspecified vehicle she'll be taking for a spin in the movie. She also teases that the sequel will be "EPIC."

"Can’t show you what color and model is my car, can’t show you where we are, can’t show you who am I with… but I can tell you that Fast X gonna be EPIC," Melchior said.

Melchior had done film work in Portugal before breaking out in James Gunn's DC movie The Suicide Squad, which was released last year. She will team back up with Gunn for his upcoming Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Melchior is also set to appear in the upcoming films Marlowe and Assassin Club.

Several other stars are making their debuts in the franchise with roles in Fast X. It was recently announced that Rita Moreno would be playing the grandmother of Dom (Vin Diesel), Jakob (John Cena), and Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster). Jason Momoa has also been cast as the villain with other newcomers including Brie Larson and Alan Ritchson. Returning stars include Diesel, Cena, Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Michael Rooker, Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, and Cardi B.

Fast X Lost Its Director At the Start of Production

Fast and Furious 10 - Fast X
Universal Studios

At the start of filming, F9 director Justin Lin was back in the director's chair, but he has since stepped down from that job. Louis Leterrier has taken over and resumed directing duties. The film is written by Lin and Dan Mazeau. Lin also remains on board as a producer on the project. Amid rumors that he exited as director because of difficulties working with Vin Diesel, Lin released a statement announcing his exit that you can read below.

"With the support of Universal, I have made the difficult decision to step back as director of FAST X, while remaining with the project as a producer. Over 10 years and five films, we have been able to shoot the best actors, the best stunts, and the best damn car chases. On a personal note, as the child of Asian immigrants, I am proud of helping to build the most diverse franchise in movie history. I will forever be grateful to the amazing cast, crew and studio for their support, and for welcoming me into the FAST family."

Fast X is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on May 19, 2023.
