In May, Danny Bonaduce’s sister Celia penned a post on Facebook announcing that her brother was dealing with a health issue. On Monday, Danny Bonaduce told Good Morning America that everything started in April when his wife Amy noticed his speech seemed off, and from that point on, his symptoms escalated. Bonaduce, who shot to fame as a child actor on the 1970s television series The Partridge Family, spoke candidly:

“I couldn’t walk at all. I couldn’t do anything like that. She looked really nervous. And she said, ‘You’re not saying words, you’re not speaking English,’ which of course is preposterous to me. We called an ambulance and [it] took me to the hospital where I remained for the first five days and remember very little of it.”

The 62-year-old took medical leave from his job as a host on the Seattle-based radio show, “The Danny Bonaduce & Sarah Morning Show.” Bonaduce added:

“I couldn’t keep my balance. I slurred really badly. I was afraid of everything. I was afraid of my stairs for God’s sake – I was hoping for a diagnosis but did not get one.”

With symptoms slowly improving, Danny Bonaduce has returned to work but confesses his “brain is still a little fuzzy.” He also has a warning for the public:

“There was nothing that said this was gonna happen. Take time to consider your health and what you’re doing. Pay attention.”

Bonaduce recalled witnessing his father suffering a stroke and exhibiting the same symptoms, but after undergoing a battery of tests while in the hospital, doctors ruled out a stroke and did not come up with a conclusive diagnosis.

Life as a Partridge Family Member Was Not All Song and Dance

Danny Bonaduce Returns to the Partridge Family House 50 Years Later

This past May, Bonaduce also gave some insight as to what it was like during the days of filming The Partridge Family. According to the former child star, while David Cassidy earned a paltry $600 per episode, he made even less with $400 and felt Cassidy was still robbed. He added that the Brady Bunch child actors made more money. Per Bonaduce, Cassidy made sure to leave the show upon quitting with a parting gift and stole $25,000 worth of equipment, guitars, etc. Although feeling bummed, Bonaduce states he didn’t take anything from the set. However, after talking with his mother, she went back to the set with a screwdriver and took his nameplate off the dressing room door.

Bonaduce reflected on Cassidy’s decision on not wanting to be Keith Partridge anymore, so he quit the show, wanting to go on tour and be a real rock n roll star only to eventually become the “Partridge Family” theme song, becoming the act of looking like David Cassidy. Bonaduce continued:

“He never did get the life he wanted. It really was a tragedy. I was in Europe when he died, but I heard he was surrounded by his family – Shirley Jones, Shaun Cassidy, Patrick Cassidy. And I heard his last words were, ‘So much wasted time.’

Danny Bonaduce also credits Cassidy with helping him with his struggles with addiction.
