Director Danny Boyle has found his follow-up to 127 Hours with the new heist drama Trance, which he will squeeze in just before directing the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

The story will center on an art heist gone wrong, and will mark his return to darker material seen in such earlier work as Shallow Grave and Trainspotting. It isn't clear who wrote the screenplay for Trance, and no other story details were given. Danny Boyle will reunite with producer Christian Colson, who are both in early talks with Fox Searchlight to secure funding.

Danny Boyle plans to start shooting Trance in September, on location in London. After filming wraps, Danny Boyle will work on the Olympic opening ceremony starting in January and, in August, he will return to work on Trance. It is believed the movie will be ready for a March 2013 release, if all goes according to this plan.

Early talks have begun with American and U.K. actors, although no names were mentioned at this time.
