According to Variety Danny DeVito will be directing Crazy Eddie. The film is based on the life of consumer electronics maven Eddie Antar. Antar created the Crazy Eddie chain in 1971 but then served 6 years for fraud.

Crazy Eddie's had 43 stores total but was best known for ads that touted prices as being "In-sa-a-a-a-a-ane!" Antar eventually went public with the company. However, Antar had a dark side and he actually lied about the financials and the inventory to help the stock price. Antar eventually became a fugitive from the law when his scheme was discovered.

The script is being written by Peter Steinfeld.

"He started as a guy who loved making deals more than money," DeVito states.
