Danny DeVito is coming back to the directors chair for his new project. According to Variety, DeVito will direct The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, a film based on the best-selling young adult novel by Avi. Morgan Freeman, Pierce Brosnan and Saorise Ronan have all signed on for the project as well.
DeVito also will be directing from his own script, making his feature screenwriting debut. The story surrounds Ronan's title character, a bold girl who journeys from England to America in the 1830s, and finds herself caught between a ruthless captain and a mutinous crew. It is unclear what roles Freeman and Brosnan have at this point.
The film is currently in pre-production and shooting will commence in September.
