Daredevil and every other Netflix series appear to be leaving the service next month. Daredevil and the other five series — Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher — now have disclaimers on them that say they are leaving the service on March 1.

Unfortunately, there is still no announcement regarding where these shows will go. However, it will most likely be either Disney+ or Hulu as these characters are a part of Marvel. Hulu has the best chances of getting these shows as Disney has been placing their more adult programming onto this service. For example, all the PG-13 X-Men movies are available on Disney+. However, the R-rated films (Logan, Deadpool, Deadpool 2) are streaming on Hulu.

The Netflix Marvel universe kick-started in 2015 with the first season of Daredevil. This led to Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders team-up between the four characters. Jon Bernthal appeared as Frank Castle/The Punisher in Daredevil Season 2 and eventually got his own spinoff series. While these shows mostly received critical success, they were ultimately all canceled by Netflix.

While these shows are technically a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they never mixed in with the main storyline or interacted with central characters. There are small easter eggs here and there, but these shows feel very separate. The Netflix shows are also a lot more R-rated than any of the main films that are associated with Disney.

However, Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil recently appeared briefly as Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) lawyer in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Daredevil’s Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) also appeared as an antagonist in the final episode of Hawkeye on Disney+. The recent appearance by the two Daredevil characters sent the series back on to the Netflix top 10, despite the series ending in 2018.

The Marvel television universe has had other shows, including Agents of SHIELD, Helstrom, Runaways, and Cloak & Dagger. These shows have all been discontinued as Marvel is steadily building its television world primarily on Disney+. Shows like Loki and Wandavision have been very successful on the streaming service.

The future for these characters is still unclear, but it is clear that Marvel is planning on bringing some of these characters to the universe with their recent crossovers. Whether their TV shows or stories are continued is something we will just have to wait and see.
