There will be some familiar faces joining Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock in the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, but it's looking like two of his closest pals from the previous Daredevil series will not be among them. What's known about the new show is that Vincent D'Onofrio will return as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, after both actors had already popped up in the MCU. Matt Murdock had a surprise cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home while Kingpin appeared in Hawkeye, and word is both will also appear in the upcoming series Echo.

On Tuesday, a new report by THR divulged some new casting information related to Daredevil: Born Again. The report reveals that Jon Bernthal is set to reprise his role as Frank Castle from The Punisher, a character who was first introduced in Daredevil. That's exciting news for fans of The Defenders, but the same report also reveals that Daredevil stars Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll are not expected to reprise their respective roles as Foggy Nelson and Karen Page.

It's not clear at this time if the Foggy and Karen characters will be totally absent from Daredevil: Born Again, thus explaining why Henson and Woll wouldn't be coming back, or if the roles will be recast with new incarnations of the two. Because the multiverse has been well established in the MCU, it wouldn't be too strange to see certain actors like Cox, D'Onofrio, and Bernthal returning as their Daredevil characters while other key roles are getting recast. Cox has previously suggested that even he didn't know for sure at the time when he signed on, as the show was still getting written and that information has all been kept very private.

If it were up to Cox, Henson and Woll would both be coming back. He has previously spoken about how he would love to work with the original Daredevil cast members again, and while he was thinking that the new series may serve as a soft reboot unconnected to the prior Daredevil show, he was still hopeful to get the whole gang back together for Born Again.

“It was an absolute delight to work with everyone on all of those shows at Netflix," he told Variety last year. "They were the beating heart of all of those shows. I would be honored and thrilled to work with any of them again."

He added, "There are so many great stories to tell. There are stories to tell again. That wouldn’t be inconsistent with what they do in the comic book universe. Often a new writer and artist will take over a book and they will start from beginning. So maybe we’ll be doing that, but I genuinely don’t know. I’m just thrilled that I’ve been invited to the party.”

Daredevil: Born Again will consist of a whopping 18 episodes, much higher than the average MCU show on Disney+. Because of that, the series will be filming all year and is expected to arrive sometime in 2024.
