Daredevil: Ok, finally some casting on this that I like!
We already know that Ben Affleck is Daredevil. Personally, I would have gone after Guy Pearce. He'd have been PERFECT... but alas, we get Affleck as my all time favorite comic character. Oh well... Then we got Jennifer Garner as Elektra. Very cool... but she's not exotic enough for my tastes. Elektra was GREEK for god's sake! Then came the casting of Michael Clark Duncan as The Kingpin. I'll agree with anyone that Duncan is a helluvan actor, and his physical presence is unmatched, but Kingpin was a 500 lb. white guy!! I would like to have seen some unknown, hulking dude in this role.
Which brings us to this bit of news. The role of Foggy Nelson, Matt Murdoch/Daredevil's best friend and partner (in law, not crime fighting) was a pretty sought after role. Sean Astin (Rudy! Rudy!) was going for it, and at the time I was all for it. But now... well... now we have John Favreau (Swingers, The Replacements, Made)!!! I hadn't even thought about him until I heard his name thrown around in a list of hopefulls! He's PERFECT for this role. I'm really hoping this gets him more of the exposure and attention he deserves. He's a great actor, and he's the one reason I now have to look forward to this flick.
If they nail it, Daredevil could turn into a great franchise. Then maybe we can see Frank Miller's awesome Born Again storyline.
Please let this be good... please let this be good... please let this be good...
Sherlock Holmes and the Vengeance of Dracula: Once thought to be trapped in development hell, this Sherlock Holmes flick may have just taken a step out of hell ala Dante. The Calgary Sun just broke a story, stating that Jude Law (A.I., The Talented Mr. Ripley) is in talks to play none other than Holmes himself.
This is good news for this flick. I hear the script is great, and I think it's about time Holmes got a revival.
The League of Extraordinary Gentleman: Although it's been rumor for about a month now, Sean Connery has officially announced his attachment to The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, playing Alan Quartermain. The League is an adaption of the Alan Moore comic, and is budgeted at around $80 million. Moore's work has been eaten up recently, with The League starting production this summer, and last year's release of From Hell.
Now if the studios would just get cracking on The Watchmen we'd be all set. (Of course, they better not use the script I read online. Great adaption of Watchmen until the last 10 pages or so when you could tell they had no idea how to end it.)
If you've ever read The Watchmen you know how hard it is going to be to get that film made post 9/11. Too bad, too. It could be a great one.
Terminator 3: Want to see the scrumptious babe that has been cast opposite Ahnuld in the next Terminator flick? Come on, you know you do... Well, head over to Aint It Cool News and bask in the yumminess.
Movie Picture for the pictures!
Ok, enough of the drool factor. On to the movie news aspect. Her name is Kristanna Loken, and she's from Norway. She's 23, and has appeared in Sliders, Star Trek Voyager, Lois & Clark, Mortal Kombat: Conquest and Aliens In The Family. Not stellar credits, but that could work to her advantage in this.
From what we know of T3, she's going to be the advanced Terminator (much like Robert Patrick's T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgement Day) sent to kick the shit out of Arnie's traitorous ass!
It's said she'll have the ability to control any type of machine around her, and that she'll have Arnie turning from good to bad throughout the movie.
