Following the exciting news that Marvel Studios are developing a Daredevil series for Disney+, further details have claimed that the show will be a continuation of where the character left off on Netflix. As well as being some “new.” coming courtesy of a report in The Hollywood Reporter, the Disney+ Daredevil comeback will be "the first of the Netflix Marvel shows to get a new but continued series."

So, what could this mean exactly? Well, considering that Charlie Cox has already reprised the role of Daredevil alter ego Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which he looked a lot like the same character that inhabited the Netflix show, it likely means that Marvel’s Daredevil series will consider the previous three seasons as canon...whilst also bringing in new elements as The Man Without Fear is folded more tightly into the MCU.

Essentially, it sounds like the studio will try to give audiences the best of both worlds when they bring Daredevil back for more crime-fighting on Disney+ — not the easiest task for writers Matt Corman and Chris Ord to accomplish.

There have been rumors of a Daredevil revival for some time, and while Marvel has yet to comment on the latest reports, it was only a matter of time following the character’s appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Daredevil proved to be one of the more popular Marvel Netflix shows, receiving critical acclaim and a hugely positive response from audiences. Due to this, the effort to bring certain characters over into the MCU proper has already begun, with Daredevil archenemy The Kingpin, played once again by Vincent D'Onofrio, featuring in the Disney+ series, Hawkeye.

Charlie Cox Has Already Revealed What He Would Like to See in a Daredevil Revival

While we await official confirmation of the series, Daredevil star Charlie Cox has already revealed one change he would like to see made when the character returns to screens. "If there is some new suit or if it does morph or change or it's redone or whatever, it will be so much more fun for the fans to just have that moment of like, 'Oh shit, that's what it is,'” the actor said. “What I would say is, I've always liked the idea that at some point in Matt's journey, his emotional journey, and again, I don't know how everything is happening, or what might happen, and how it ties into what we've already done, I have no idea at all. But I've always liked the idea that at some point he feels like he has earned the right to have the DD [on his chest], which we've never had.”

A concern that has already emerged since the news is whether Disney will water down the violence that made the original Daredevil seasons stand out. Well, for what it’s worth, Cox supports a less bloody and brutal version of the vigilante. “I wouldn’t put it past the folks at Marvel to be able to accomplish that,” he said. “I’m such a fan of everything they’ve done so far, I wouldn’t underestimate them at all. So if they wanted to make a more PG version of Daredevil, I back them to find a way to do where it feels totally in keeping with everything we’ve done. And maybe there’s a little less blood, maybe there’s a little whatever, but I back them to do it.”

How do you feel about the Daredevil Disney+ return being both a continuation and something new?
