Daredevil is now well-and-truly a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with actor Charlie Cox appearing at D23 to reveal certain details regarding the character’s future with the franchise. One such detail is Matt Murdock’s role in The Avengers, a role that Cox believes could be crucial to the superhero team.

“I see him as being a key member of the Avengers, imperative to everything that they do.”

Speaking with ExtraTV at the D23 event, Cox explained that, while he is not aware of whether Daredevil will become a member of The Avengers, he feels that he certainly should, even describing his potential addition as “key.”

“How far do you dare to dream?” the actor said, before adding that “I have no idea” if Daredevil being a member of The Avengers is part of the plan for the team going forward.

Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, has been a part of both The Avengers and New Avengers on and off over the years in the pages of Marvel Comics, meaning there is precedent for the character to join the team in live action. Besides, with the likes of founding members Iron Man and Captain America now dead and retired, respectively, The Avengers could do with some new blood. No doubt Daredevil would be a very welcome addition.

Daredevil & She-Hulk Could Join The Avengers for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars

Daredevil may not be the only new member of The Avengers by the time both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars come around, with She-Hulk: Attorney at Law writer Jessica Gao believing that it's just a matter of time before the character is added to the roster. "I would be shocked if they didn't start putting her in the movies, especially the group team-up movies.”

So, with Daredevil due to meet She-Hulk in the ongoing Disney+ series, we could be slowly seeing what the newest line-up of Avengers will look like.

Following his appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, as well as an expected performance in the Disney+ series Echo, Charlie Cox will don the horned mask of Daredevil in his own, standalone series on Disney+. Titled Daredevil: Born Again, Cox has revealed several new details regarding the series, including that it will not be a season 4 of the Netflix show. "It is a Season 1, it is not Season 4, so it is a whole new thing," Cox explained at D23 Expo. "Which I think is the way to go. If you are going to do it again, do it differently."

As for Daredevil and She-Hulk, Cox is hopeful that She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Tatiana Maslany will repay the favor and appear in Born Again. "I really want Tatiana to come back and make a (special appearance),” Cox said. “I had such a blast working with her, and the characters' chemistry was so fun. I'm really excited to see that episode... You know, we're both lawyers. There's a lot for us to like about those two. So, I would love for her to make an appearance in the show."

Daredevil: Born Again is due for release in Spring 2024.
