Production has been under way on Season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil since early July, and we've already gotten our first official look at Jon Bernthal as The Punisher. With shooting still happening in New York, Jon Bernthal shared a new photo from the set on his Twitter page earlier today, which reveals part of his massive arsenal of weaponry. As you can see in the image below, Frank Castle is well-equipped to defend himself in the new season of this Netflix series.

Back in May 2013, Marvel won back the rights to The Punisher franchise, along with Ghost Rider and Blade. While Frank Castle is set to appear on Daredevil Season 2, a rumor surfaced in June that claims Netflix is developing new TV shows for Blade, Ghost Rider and Punisher, so we may be seeing a lot more of Frank Castle after his run on Marvel's Daredevil. Then again, that report was never confirmed, so we'll have to wait and see.

As for The Punisher's appearance on Marvel's Daredevil, showrunner Marco Ramirez revealed that Jon Bernthal will have a huge role this season, which will primarily focus on his character squaring off against Charlie Cox's title character. While Daredevil has a strict no-kill policy, which he struggled with in Season 1, The Punisher is described as a serial killer who only targets criminals. Their contrasting views of justice reportedly will not result in any sort of physical confrontation between the two crime-fighters, but it will be more of a philosophical disagreement.

The Punisher will not be the primary villain in Season 2, but we don't know yet who that villain may be. Elodie Yung joins the cast this season as Elektra, but it still isn't known for sure if Vincent D'Onofrio is returning as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin. At the end of Season 1, Kingpin was put behind bars for his crimes in Hell's Kitchen, so it's possible we could see him in jail for at least part of the season. Rosario Dawson, Deborah Ann WollElden HensonScott Glenn, Bob Gunton, Toby Leonard Moore, Vondie Curtis-Hall and Ayelet Zurer are also set to return.

Season 2 is slated to air sometime in 2016, which will follow the first season of Marvel's Jessica Jones, set to debut later this year. Marvel's Luke Cage and Marvel's Iron Fist are also expected to debut in 2016, with The Defenders miniseries tentatively slated to arrive sometime in 2017.
