According to Variety, Dark Hero Studios' David Hayter and Benedict Carver are going to be teaming up with Pandemonium's Bill Mechanic to make the comicbook "Deadworld" into a zombie franchise.

Hayter (Watchmen) is going to write the screenplay. Financing development will be Pandemonium and Framelight.

Deadworld picks up four months after zombies have taken over the world. Running the show is King Zombie. He is a corpse who rides a Harley. He is angry at those who survived because he is an outcast.

Mechanic hopes that this property will have a multipic story arc. In addition to writing the screenplay, Hayter will also conceive and design the look of the film.

"It's very much about the design of the Deadworld and creating cool, frightening but not necessarily gory creatures," Hayter stated. "I am a huge fan of zombie mythology."

Mechanic went on to say, "I've never done anything close to this subject, but I loved the whole world because it's so unique."

Production on this project will start next year.
