Eva Green has landed a lead role in Tim Burton's screen adaptation of Dark Shadows. Eva Green will play Angelique, a witch who has a love-hate relationship with the vampire Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp).

We reported yesterday that Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcote are both in-talks to join Dark Shadows. Jackie Earle Haley will play Willie Loomis, a con artist who ends up being enslaved by Barnabas. Bella Heathcote will play Victoria Winters, the governess of Barnabas Collins' estate.

Tim Burton is directing Dark Shadows from a screenplay by Seth Grahame-Smith and John August. We reported back in November that Dark Shadows will start shooting in April.

We also reported earlier this month that Eva Green was rumored to portray Talia al Guhl in The Dark Knight Rises. With her commitment to Dark Shadows now in place, it seems unlikely she will star in Christopher Nolan's upcoming sequel.

Dark Shadows is based on the original Dark Shadows soap opera, which ran from 1966 to 1971. The show was later revived for a short-lived stint on NBC in 1991.
