It was recently reported that a God of War series is nearing development at Prime Video, and now Dave Bautista's name is trending, with many fans nominating the Army of the Dead star to play the live-action Kratos. As there have been rumors for years of God of War getting the live-action treatment, the fan calls for Bautista to play the part are nothing new, as many fans have been rooting for this to happen for just as long. With word coming in that the God of War adaptation is closer than ever, the people are making it clear on social media who they want to see in the role. Bautista is leading the way with a great many fans going so far as to say they'll be losing all interest in the series if they don't cast the former WWE star, making the fantasy casting a make-or-break deal for a lot of God of War players."I nominate Dave Bautista as kratos. And that’s final," one tweet reads.

"Dave Bautista is the answer," another fan writes. "He’s Greek, massive, used to the makeup and has been asking to play a serious role for a while and it doesn’t get more serious than Kratos."

"I mean if they got someone like Bautista to play Kratos, I’d at least check out an episode or two," one person puts it.

And another fan said, "I think he would be good at carrying the role both physically and emotionally. The one scene in GotG2 where he talks alone with Mantis, sold me on his ability to deliver quiet, sincere, emotional dialog. Kratos needs that as a character and not just his physicality."

"I've always been a fan of God of War. I think the latest game was just so beautiful and phenomenal. I would love to tackle a God of War movie or I would love to see somebody put that up on the big screen," DeKnight explained in 2018, per ComicBook.com.

"Somebody asked me, 'Well, who would you have to have Kratos?' And immediately for me: Dave Bautista would be the man," he added. "I think he can do anything. You can do drama, real emotion, humor, action. What would I like to see from a movie like that? A bit of a tricky question because there hasn't really been 100% success of translating a video game to a movie. It's a very, very tricky process."

Reportedly, the live-action God of War series is in hot negotiations to be streamed on Prime Video. The show comes from The Expanse creators and executive producers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, in collaboration with The Wheel of Time executive producer and showrunner Rafe Judkins, as well as Sony Pictures TV and PlayStation Productions.

As for Bautista, the actor can be seen returning to the role of Drax in the upcoming Marvel sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after first appearing in Thor: Love and Thunder. He is also set to appear in Rian Johnson's Knives Out 2, which heads to Netflix later this year.
