It wasn't long after Netflix announced their plans to develop a live-action Gears of War movie before Dave Bautista renewed his campaign to get involved. For several years, Bautista had lobbied hard to get the role, going so far as to personally pitch a Gears of War film to Warner Bros. at one point. As time went by, it looked like the former wrestler would never land his dream role of playing the live-action Marcus Fenix in a feature film adaptation of the popular video game.Things are now changing, considering the big announcement that was recently made at Netflix. A live-action Gears of War film is now in active development alongside an adult animated series. No cast members have yet been announced, but there were many fans quick to suggest Bautista, based on his history of gunning for the part. Now, Bautista has joined in on the campaign by posting the video promo of the time he was brought into the actual video game series, clearly pointing out just how easy it would be for him to transition into the movie."I can't make this any easier," Bautista wrote while posting the video.

The promo is for a limited edition DLC that was made for the video game Gears 5. In direct response to the fans wanting Bautista to play the role in a movie, the DLC changes the Marcus Fenix character to bear Bautista's voice and likeness. Bautista suited up in the video above to film a promo advertising the special content.

Before Bautista jumped back into the fray, Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski had also endorsed the retired wrestler for the role of Marcus Fenix. Noticing the fan demand for Bautista to be cast, Belszinski agreed with a post on Twitter, though he went on to also suggest Ryan Reynolds for the role of Baird, as well as an unspecified Latino actor for Dom.

For now, fans will speculate over who will be cast until official announcements are made by Netflix. All we know at this point is that the movie and animated series are finally happening, as the streamer made that clear with an announcement timed to the game's 15th anniversary. Also teased was possible spinoffs if these Gears of War projects do well, so Netflix is clearly hoping this could spawn the next major franchise.

"Gears of War was released 16 years ago today and to mark the occasion, Netflix has partnered with The Coalition to adapt the Gears of War video game saga into a live action feature film, followed by an adult animated series — with the potential for more stories to follow!" the announcement reads.

Neither the Gears of War movie nor the animated series yet have official premiere dates set at Netflix at this time.
