"It's times like these you learn to live again." Well, at least that is what frontman Dave Grohl said in the hit song, "Times Like This," from the Grammy Award-winning band the Foo Fighters. However, based on the new trailer for the band's movie, Studio 666, it looks like they might not live through the night. The newest trailer is uncut and looks at the movie in all its bloody rock and roll glory as the band not only works to finish their tenth album but also survive the now murderous and possessed Dave Grohl. The official film synopsis goes as follows:
"Members of the rock band Foo Fighters move into a mansion to record their 10th album. Once in the house, singer Dave Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the band members' lives."
Along with Grohl and bandmates Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee, all of whom play themselves, the cast includes Whitney Cummings, Leslie Grossman, Will Forte, Jenna Ortega, and Jeff Garlin. The new film is directed by BJ McDonnell and the international release date will be set soon by Open Road CEO Tom Ortenberg and Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl Says New Music Will Accompany the Release of Studio 666
Dave Grohl has also revealed that he's recorded an entire metal album for Dream Widow, the fictitious band that appears in the upcoming feature-length horror movie. As Grohl told Howard Stern earlier this month, his character finds a creepy basement, and things go to a very dark place.
“I go into the basement and I find this tape by a band [Dream Widow] from 25 years ago that was recorded there," he said. "And there's this song that, if recorded and completed, the f**king demon in the house is unleashed, and then all hell breaks loose." As the Foo Fighters frontman explains, in the film, Dream Widow's singer “went insane, murdered his entire band over creative differences and then kills himself in the house.”
“It will be the lost album,” he says. “It'll be the album they were making before he f**king killed the entire band. I work fast, but f**k, this deadline is going to kill me. Yes, I'll get it out for the movie. By February 25, there will be a Dream Widow record.”
So it looks like we get new music and a new bloody rocking movie featuring the Foo Fighters. All of this marks fantastic news for any fan of the band and of Grohl.
