AstroBoy will be getting some new direction.

According to Variety, the AstroBoy movie will be getting a new director in Flushed Away helmer David Bowers.

Bowers is taking over for Colin Brady, who was originally set to direct this $50 million animated tale. The trade didn't indicate why Brady was off the project.

The flick is based off the manga comic created by Osamu Tezaku and the film is looking towards a 2009 release date and will be distributed by Warner Bros. and the Weinstein Company.
