The Office is considered one of the best American sitcoms of the 2000s. Though, it was based on a UK comedy that came a few years before it from the creative and hilarious mind of Ricky Gervais. Gervais is reprising his iconic role of ex-boss David Brent in the all-new feature film Life on the Road. It was announced that this upcoming comedy will debut exclusively on Netflix in the U.S. and select international territories sometime in 2017. But it is getting a proper theatrical release in London and surrounding territories this summer. To help celebrate, BBC Films and EntertainmentOne have released a new video, which finds Gervais sliding into the sleeveless white T of his most popular character to date.

David Brent is seen wondering through the woods, wistfully singing the catchy folk song 'Lady Gypsy'. David Brent has released music videos before, the most popular of which was 'Equality Street'. Ricky Gervais himself is no stranger to the music scene. He attempted a career as a pop star in the 1980s as the singer of the new wave act Seona Dancing, and he worked as the manager of the then-unknown band Suede before turning to comedy.

Life on the Road has a documentary crew catching up with David Brent twelve years after the BBC2 documentary The Office. Brent is now a traveling salesman, chasing his dream of rock stardom by self-financing a UK tour with his band, "Foregone Conclusion". And while his dreary office atmosphere might have changed, this appears to be the same old David everyone has come to know and loathe. Gervais announced the movie was coming to Netflix this past June.

"This is exciting news and this is top secret so I'm gonna say it now. Netflix have bought out the rest of the world again. So everyone's gonna see it. Which is great for me because I'd rather 20 million people see it than half a million people see it in cinemas. Do you know what I mean? Because I want to do tours off the back of it. So for me it's great."

Life on the Road will open in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand this August before it hits Netflix in 2017 for the U.S. Netflix has worked with Gervais several times in the recent past, with the comedy movie Special Correspondents co-starring Eric Bana having debuted on the streaming service earlier this year. He also debuted his dramatic comedy series Derek on Netflix, which was nominated for an Emmy. At this time, Life on the Road doesn't have a premiere date.

Life on the Road includes a stellar ensemble cast that includes Kevin Bishop (The Kevin Bishop Show), Roisin Conaty (Impractical Jokers UK), Diane Morgan (Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe), Ashley McGuire (Derek, Miranda) and introducing Alexander Arnold (Skins, Poldark) and Mandeep Dhillon (24: Live Another Day, Some Girls). The movie is a LOTR Films Ltd production, co-financed by eOne and BBC Films. The film is executive produced by Duncan Hayes, Christine Langan and Alex Hamilton, produced by Charlie Hanson (Cemetery Junction, Derek, Extras) and co-produced by Katie Mavroleon (Marley's Ghosts, Pompidou).
