David Chase is returning to HBO, but this time he's exploring Hollywood. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chase has signed for the mini-series A Ribbon of Dreams for HBO.

Chase will write, executive produce the mini-series but he will also direct the first episodes of the mini-series, which will follow the history of Hollywood and filmmaking from its inception to the present day. The title comes from the Orson Welles quote, "A film is a ribbon of dreams."

The series will start in 1913 and follow two different men - one an educated engineer, the other a violent cowboy - who form a bond and become pioneers of the film business alongside early pioneers like D.W. Griffith. The mini-series will follow the industry all the way up to the present day.
