According to Variety, David Elliot and Paul Lovett have been hired to write Brats, a kids action pic that Jason Hoffs is producing for DreamWorks.

The picture is about a group of military brats living on a U.S. base overseas, who are forced to band together when a bad element threatens to overrun the base.

DreamWorks-based Hoffs is producing. Hoffs' development exec Ira Napoliello worked closely with the writers to help pact the deal.

Elliot and Lovett wrote Par's recently wrapped Four Brothers, directed by John Singleton.

Hoffs is a producer on Sony's Hot Wheels, which McG is set to direct. He's also producing DreamWorks' adventure Argonauts, about a group of treasure hunters who think they've figured out the location of the fabled sunken ship of Jason and the Argonauts.
