U.S. Marine Brian Steidle's harrowing Darfur memoir The Devil Came on Horseback is being turned into a narrative feature film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project will be based on the 2007 documentary that was taken from the book.

The memoir follows a former U.S. Marine Captain during his assignment as an official observer in Sudan. After being prevented from saving lives in the region, Steidle risks his life to smuggle photographs of the Darfur genocide to the New York Times.

The film does not have a set start date.
