The former Baywatch star, David Hasselhoff, is returning to the big screen with the C'est Magique, the debut movie from South Pointe Pictures which is being launched during the Cannes Film Festival. Hasselhoff will appear with South Pointe's Larry Cech in the movie, which tells the story of two French magicians who unwittingly qualify to take part in the world's biggest magic contest in Las Vegas and is said to be a cross between Little Miss Sunshine and The Hangover. The comedy tale is based on the real live experience of Cech from his time working on big budget magic shows in Vegas, and is co written by Cech and director Nicolas Benamou on his English language debut.

David Hasselhoff has made many TV and cameo movie appearances over the last decade, but this will be one of his few roles in a movie lead, having been more focused on releasing new music in the form of his first heavy metal album. As well a cameo appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, as well as singing the song "Guardians Inferno" heard in the film's closing credits, and a major role in the less than serious Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! the actor's main body of work has been in theatrical productions, appearing in pantomime's in the UK and in 9 to 5 The Musical at the Savoy Theatre in London's West End just before the Covid19 pandemic closed theaters.

Movie director Benamou said of the new project, "Las Vegas has always featured the best magicians of our time and I'm going to show you the worst of all time! You will love them! This project brings together two worlds that have always been dear to me: comedy and magic. To shoot a movie in the USA has always been a childhood dream for me. This project is the most exciting of anything I have done so far, it's magic!"

Cech added, "I'm thrilled to be launching South Pointe Pictures in Cannes with C'est Magique, a fresh take on a trusted genre, with such amazing talent on board. This is the first of many features in the works that are commercially viable, with built-in global audiences, that stay true to their artistic integrity. After spending so much time in France I've gotten to know the most amazing people and hear their stories and understand the culture and their love of life. My goal with the company is to bring a fresh take to these universal themes and hopefully make the distance between France and the US a little bit closer."

The pair are hoping to begin filming on the movie at the end of this year in Paris and Las Vegas, with eyes on a release date sometime in early 2023. As with many of the properties being touted during the Cannes market, the movie will be hoping to attract some attention for itself, and with Hasselhoff still having a huge following in Europe, there is no doubt that the announcement of his involvement will certainly give the project a boost.
