The Depp v. Heard trial has generated great support for Johnny Depp from fans, colleagues, and trial observers alike, but not everyone watching is on the actor's side. Others have been voicing their support for Amber Heard, feeling that she's the one who had been abused during their tumultuous marriage. Actor David Krumholtz, famous for his role as Bernard in The Santa Clause and its first sequel, is firmly a part of the latter category.

Krumholtz, who previously worked with Heard on the 2011 series The Playboy Club, weighed in on the trial with a series of comments on Instagram Stories. He bluntly states his belief that Heard is an abuse victim, pointing to Depp's known drug and alcohol use as contributing factors to his behavior. Krumholtz even says that Depp is suing Heard as a way to avoid owning up to his own "addiction issues." Here's what Krumholtz said, per Meaww.

"Amber Heard is a victim of abuse by Johnny Depp. Don't ya just love his work? Isn't he handsome? Heard he's a sweetheart! Captain Jack Sparrow!!! Drugs and alcohol turn men into monsters... I believe Amber Heard... She is not innocent. But she IS a victim. Johnny Depp's smugness during the trial is sickening... I worked with Amber Heard. She is not psychotic. She is brilliant and strong and got caught up in bulls***. She made a mistake. Why is Johnny suing her? Because he has not owned up to his raging addiction issues."

While there is some debate over who abused who in Depp and Heard's relationship, the lawsuit is specifically over an op-ed Heard wrote in 2018 describing herself as an abuse victim. Depp says that this article, along with Heard's allegations, had cost him major roles, such as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 6. Krumholtz disagrees, using his Instagram Stories to suggest that Heard's accusations are irrelevant for Disney, whose only concerns with Depp were related to drugs and alcohol.

"The reason Johnny Depp lost career opportunities is because he was a total mess. Disney etc... doesn't care what Amber accused him of. He ruined his public image by being a severe drug abuser and drunk."

Perhaps Depp does not have the star of The Santa Clause 1 & 2 in his corner, but other celebrities have been coming out to support him. Eva Green, who co-starred with Depp in the Tim Burton movie Dark Shadows, also took to Instagram to weigh in on the defamation trial. She posted an image of herself with Depp and stated her belief that, by the end of the legal battle, Depp will have his name cleared.

"I have no doubt Johnny will emerge with his good name and wonderful heart revealed to the world, and life will be better than it ever was for him and his family," she said.
