Matt Reeves is confirmed to direct the upcoming franchise sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. He is best known for directing the remake Let Me In and the found footage thriller Cloverfield.

A follow-up to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, that film's director, Rupert Wyatt, was initially set to return for this sci-fi adventure that will continue the evolution of earth's ape species and its takeover of mankind. A number of directors were up for the job after Rupert Wyatt stepped down because of timing issues. Matt Reeves is said to have beat out J Blakeson (The Disappearance of Alice Creed), Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter), and Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage) for the job.
